From the time I joined the Union, I have benefited from job protection and wage increment. KUDHEIHA has also helped me in understanding my rights and the laws that govern me as a worker. With this I am free to air my views to the management when it comes to my rights
KUDHEIHA has helped organize us in the informal sector and this has seen us get better working conditions. As food vendors, we used to be constantly harassed by the City Council Askaries. They would take working equipment and lock them up due to delays in payment of county operations dues and licenses. But then there was also open extortion where vendors would be compelled to pay daily fees even three times a day. But the union has negotiated on our behalf with the Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) and City Council alongside us now work in harmony
I am a beneficiary of the union for which I will always be grateful. I was at front line in advocacy issues and was victimized for my position. I was sent to unpaid leave and even my colleagues in the work's committee being sacked and their case is in court. But thanks to the intervention of the union, I was reinstated back to my position after being on unpaid leave for one and a half years -
