Labour Day 2023, though not a 100% success, as a union we got a plus whereby the President of Kenya, H.E Dr. William Ruto committed to have both C189 and C190 concluded and ratified. C189, Domestic Workers Convention, will help in recognizing the significant contribution of domestic workers to the global economy, which includes increasing paid job opportunities for women and men workers with family responsibilities, greater scope for caring for ageing populations, children and persons with a disability, and substantial income transfers within and between countries.

C190 on the other hand is a convention that is on Violence and Harassment will help in recognizing the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment, and that violence and harassment in the world of work can constitute a human rights violation or abuse, and that violence and harassment is a threat to equal opportunities, is unacceptable and incompatible with decent work.
