Gender-Based Violence is one of the most pervasive violations of human rights, cutting across all societies. Addressing it requires collective action, and men and boys have a unique and critical role to play in preventing GBV and fostering a culture of respect and equality.
For too long, the fight against GBV has been seen as primarily a women’s issue. But the truth is, lasting change requires the active involvement of everyone. Men and boys must be allies, role models, and champions of gender equality. Here’s how you can make a difference:

Challenge Harmful Norms: Speak out against toxic masculinity and gender stereotypes. Question attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate violence or inequality.

Promote Healthy Masculinity: Redefine what it means to “be a man” by valuing empathy, kindness, and respect. Show that strength lies in supporting others, not in dominating them.

Educate Boys on Gender Equality: Teach the next generation about respect and equality. Help boys understand the importance of consent, healthy relationships, and the impact of their actions on others.

Be Active Allies: Participate in anti-GBV initiatives. Support survivors by listening without judgment and advocating for their rights. Pledge to hold yourself and others accountable.
