On this year’s World AIDS Day, KUDHEIHA Siaya was honored to participate in an impactful event organized by the Wezesha Youth Initiative at Bar Kalare, Siaya County. This occasion brought together communities, youth, and stakeholders to reflect on progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS and recommit to ensuring equality, dignity, and health for all.
What is World AIDS Day?
Observed every year on December 1st, World AIDS Day is a global health day dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, showing support for people living with HIV, and remembering those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses. Established in 1988, it is a time to educate, advocate, and strengthen global solidarity to eliminate stigma and discrimination.
How Does This Relate to KUDHEIHA’s Work?
As a trade union championing the rights of workers, KUDHEIHA is deeply committed to ensuring decent work for all. HIV/AIDS is not just a health issue but also a workplace and human rights concern. During the event, we engaged youth and community members, sharing our message of hope, resilience, and action. We emphasized the importance of staying safe, ending stigma, and fostering inclusive communities where every individual can contribute meaningfully without fear of discrimination.
